Innovation in Poland for the Next Generation

Members of the PPG Digital and SAP IT department in Poland participated in a student program at the Wrocław University of Technology named the V Edition earlier this year.

Students, together with PPG, realised some truly innovative IT projects as a part of their studies. The aim of the program was to prepare students for the world of work by exposing them to real-life projects carried out by market leaders and the PPG IT Team was drafted in to give the students a unique insight on some of the projects we're currently working on.

The main objective for PPG was to build on our already stellar brand recognition, especially with IT students and build our relationship with the prestigious University of Technology.

We're always on the look out for ways to encourage and identify the best IT people in the Polish market, especially with Wroclaw's growing reputation of being the country's 'Silicon Valley' due to the huge amount of world-renowned IT shared services setting up shop in the city.

In February, along with all of the other companies asked to be part of the program, we submitted our projects to be considered. It was then up to the bright young students who worked in groups of five or six to pick the company they'd like to work with. Three of PPG's projects were picked by the student groups and the IT Team went on to meet and arrange regular get-togethers to scope the projects, plan resources, create an action plan.

At the end of the program the Student's Project Conference was held and as proud Gold Sponsors of the event, the PPG Team turned out in force to support the students they had built a bond with over the past few months.

At the conference students were formally presented with their results and the stand out project for PPG was the 'Free Paint Checkout Store'. The innovative concept is a dedicated application that allows customers to buy in paint store without waiting in line. The audience then voted for their favourite project and our team came out at 13th an amazing result for first edition, what's more, all of the projects are being continued internally!

We'd like to say a big thank you to all of the student teams that worked with us and take the opportunity to say how proud we are to have worked with such bright, young rising stars!
