PPG Gives It All for Giving Tuesday

PPG came together to support Giving Tuesday, a campaign focused on the power of giving and helping those in need. Our company supported the day in its own unique way with nine different events taking place across seven countries!

Fuelled by social media, #GivingTuesday is a worldwide charity sensation with over 98 countries taking part! In 2017 Giving Tuesday entered its sixth year running and made a new world record for the most money raised online in 24-hours.

All the PPG sites involved selected a local charity to support and held events and sales in order to donate and have fun.giv_ppg.png

What was happening across PPG?

In Stowmarket, UK and in Caivano, Italy, events revolved around selling home-made food. In Stowmarket PPG volunteers enjoyed sharing a home-cooked red Thai curry as well as having collection boxes available across the site to donate to their Charity Partner AJ's Legacy. In Caivano, home-baked cakes, muffins and pastries were sold to donate to their chosen Charity Partner Associazione Carmine Gallo Onlus.

In Cavallirio, Italy organisers arranged a festive flower sale selling Northern White-Cedars and Poinsettias (Christmas Stars) totalling to an impressive €220 for their Charity Partner, Associazione Alzheimer Borgomanero Onlus.

Across the Netherlands four sites organised collection boxes to fundraise for the final charity activity of the year for their chosen Charity Partner KNGF Geleidehonden. In Amsterdam, Uithoom, Tiel and Den Bosch collection boxes were strategically placed in the company canteens to collect spare change, totalling an extra €110! The Delfzjil site also arranged cash donations and over 125 employees gave €5 to their Charity Partner Stichting de Schutse, raising €625.

Elsewhere, in Brno, Czech Republic and Birstall, UK, volunteers organised raffles. In Brno the Giving Tuesday raffle was a sell-out! Staff sold all 600 tickets in under 40 minutes, with prizes ranging from chocolates, Primalex and Balakryl paints, cinema tickets and even a day off. Nearly €800 was donated to Charity Partner Hospice St. Elizabeth. In the UK staff raised money for their Charity Partner, Prostate Cancer UK and Giving Tuesday, prizes included tasty treats and Prosecco hampers and Christmas gift hampers.

PPG Bodelhausen, Germany, employees prepared a flea market to take place on-site, inviting others to place bids on items such as old lockers, desks, coffee machines and furniture to then be raffled by a member of the worker's committee. Items for sale were locally repurposed from the Grabenstraße and Bahnhofstraße sites and donations went to their Charity Partner, Förderverein für krebskranke Kinder Tübingen e. V.

In Slovakia and Czech Republic sites in Brno, Modrice, Brasy, Jirny, Petrovany, Zilina and retail stores Domy barev and Domy Farieb collected various pet-friendly goods such as dog and cat foods, toys to support stray dogs and cats in three shelters: Útulok Druhá šanca, Azýlek Pídíčka v Kunicích, Katy z.s. and Nalezenci Šumaváci.

Overall, PPG has collectively supported multiple charity organisations across the world thanks to its wonderfully diverse workforce and encouraging communities.
