Stowmarket Site Awards Employees in Memorial Event

In Stowmarket, England, the Refinish manufacturing site held its sixth Annual Reg Norton Recognition event.

The fantastic scheme aims to bring PPG staff together and highlight their achievements from throughout the year, to celebrate the life and career of past Plant Manager and Former Vice President of Global Refinish and Corporate Supply Chain Reginald J. "Reg" Norton.

Reg Norton's achievements and attitude went beyond his work in the UK too and earned him the position of PPG Vice President of Environment, Health and Safety, moving to Pittsburgh, USA  in 2004. However, Reg Norton sadly died in a tragic accident in September 2010, leaving a legacy of inspirational personal and career achievements behind.

For some time, Reg Norton's PPG career included his role as Plant Manager at the Stowmarket site, where he is now fondly remembered and well-known for his commitment to employee engagement. The award honours the memory of his leadership, drive and commitment to the operational excellence that he consistently displayed.

More than 170 nominations were submitted across six categories: Partnership, Innovation, Commitment, Excellence, Trust and Professionalism. Each category is designed to reflect the personal qualities of Reg Norton's professional and compassionate character and successful career. Then, 80 individuals and team members were chosen to be awarded based on their efforts throughout the year.

In addition to these awards, three individuals also received the 'Special Contribution Awards' for their exceptional commitment to their work, colleagues and community. Giuseppe Casagrande, Global Operations Director, Automotive Refinish, presented the awards to:

  • John Nibloe, Senior Resin Operator, for his 32 years of service as the forklift truck trainer at the site

  • Kat Terry, Quality Coordinator and David Barton, Senior Resin Operator, for their fantastic five year-long fundraising efforts for the site's chosen charity partner, AJ's Legacy

The Stowmarket Refinish Manufacturing site will continue to uphold Reg Norton's memory not only in upcoming annual Reg Norton Recognition events but, by maintaining the ethos inspired by his career in their daily work lives too.
