The Beautiful Game Sees Client Bonding in Bodelshausen

Congratulations are in order for the team members from the PPG Packaging Coatings site in Bodelshausen, Germany, for their valiant effort in a mini-football tournament hosted by MAT client, Tubex.

The event took place on Saturday 24th of June in a local sports facility in Rangendingen, about 10km away from the Bodelshausen site. The tournament was held as part of Tubex Rangendingen's celebration of 70 years in the business. The company was founded in 1947 and is one of the world's leading manufacturers for aerosol cans, aluminium and plastic tubes.

Tubex runs production sites in Russia, Brazil, Austria, Slovakia and Germany and boasts clients such as L’Oréal, Unilever, Beiersdorf and Nestlé. PPG supplies Tubex with protective inner lacquers, base coats, printing colours and varnishes for all types of aluminium cans and the team was asked to join the friendly competition based on the long standing relationship between the two companies.

The team was up against three others, two of Tubex's aluminium suppliers, one from Germany and one from Austria, and the host team from Tubex themselves. Although the two other teams were suppliers to Tubex, all three companies are owned by CAG Holding and there was definitely some friendly rivalry being exhibited! The PPG team felt privileged to be the only squad invited from outside the CAG group, it was a real honour to be included in the tournament as it shows a genuine and deep-rooted relationship that goes much further than simply business.

The PPG lineup was made up of 12 players with six different nationalities. Nine players came from manufacturing site, one from the lab and two were sales reps. Quality Control Officer Zeljko Zubovic lead the unit into battle and a special shoutout has to go to Roman Lüdigk, Technical Sales Manager, whose goal-keeping skills saved PPG from their hard pressing adversaries.

It was a winning weekend for PPG Bodelshausen (although the team came in fourth!) as the main focus was that everyone had fun, nobody was injured, and that the union with the client was strengthened. A great day was had by all who attended as local employees of the plant also joined to support the PPG team. Tubex was a perfect host as they supplied coffee, cake, sausages and steaks as well as much needed cold drinks as the temperature soared above 30 degrees!
