EMEA Sites Share Love on #GivingTuesday

In November, ten of our sites from eight countries across the EMEA region took part in #GivingTuesday! The initiative is a global day of giving happening on the 27th of November, fueled by the power of philanthropy, social media and kindness. Our sites wanted to join in by setting a great example of how we can come together to create a big, charitable impact.

This year, our colleagues’ giving nature even surpassed last years’ donations – altogether, they raised over $4,000 for a number of amazing charities!

Raffles and Great Prizes

Our sites in Brno, Czech Republic and Birstall, UK, took part in #GivingTuesday by organizing a number of exciting raffles. While Birstall worked to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK, Brno’s donations were sent to their guide-dog training center Charity Partner, Vodící pes, z.s.

In Brno, the winning prize for the raffle was a day off work. So many people got involved that we managed to raise an astounding $1,400!

Food, Books, Trinkets and More!

In Stowmarket, UK, our PPG colleagues held a pancake and omelet sale for AJ’s Legacy, a charity supporting young people and local families in need.

Our friends over in Soborg, Denmark and Rueil, France also got involved in charitable activities! PPG Soborg managed to raise money by selling advent calendars for their Charity Partner, Børns Vilkår; while PPG Rueil held an incredible bake sale to raise money for those living with rare genetic illnesses to non-profit AFM-Téléthon, the French Muscular Dystrophy Association, a patient organization that sponsors research on biotherapies.

Teams in Alberton, South Africa and Gonfreville, France, had other ideas. By donating a number of unused personal items such as toys, books, photoframes, clothes and more, PPG Alberton were able to make donations of cash and objects to Amcare, a health and social development organization servicing poor and vulnerable people in the local area. Similarly, PPG Gonfreville organized a book and toy sale to make donations to REVES, a charitable organization that makes the dreams of terminally ill children come true.

Giving Directly to People and Animals in Need

In Rolle, Switzerland, Wroclaw, Poland and across our sites in Slovakia, our staff donated spare cash, food, necessity products and even animal food directly to a number of incredible charities.

PPG Rolle chose to work with a project titled Les Cartons du Coeur – a group that gives food and hygiene products to people in need. Our Polish colleagues worked with a charity named Group for Helpers for Animals RESCUE – they even went all-out and held an extra book and bake sale to raise extra money for animals-in-need! Furthermore, the unsold books were sent to the library!

In Slovakia, our colleagues all around the country allied for one common cause: to collect money for their Charity Partner Svetielko nádeje.

We’re immensely proud to have so many giving and charitable colleagues. Their support will positively impact many lives (both human and animal!) and help out the brilliant charities that support them. We already can’t wait for #GivingTuesday 2019!
