True Colors Project - Nothing is Impossible

PPG Varossieau recently donated a vast supply of HISTOREX® paints and other supplies to the art group True Colors in aid of a touching project. The group, consisting of Fabian de Randamie, Guillermo de Randamie and Ryan de Randamie, teamed up with students to paint a mural onto the faded walls of Oranje school, Paramaribo.

Believe in Yourself

The wall was originally painted a decade ago by Fabian de Randamie. Recently, however, the Randamie brothers began to notice that the front-facing walls of the Paramaribo school had become dirty and the colors had weakened over time.

Fabian wanted to repaint the wall with a strong message. Inspired by his belief in the power of education, he hopes the mural will encourage and stimulate the students of Oranje school. In addition, a mural Fabian painted entitled, “Believe in Yourself”, is aimed at the male students, whom Fabian hopes will stay in school and complete their studies, even in the face of peer pressure.

Let’s Get to Work

The True Colors group immediately got stuck into the task ahead. With a helping hand from Paramaribo students, the wall was worked on in three key stages. Firstly, students helped to scrub away the old mural to leave a fresh canvas for their work.

Then, the drawings were sketched onto the wall and painted using PPG paints. Finally, the teams refined and cleaned the final painting to ensure its longevity. The students were incredibly grateful for the colorful addition to their school.

The Finished Article

The walls are covered with butterflies, stylish images of students and the inspirational words – “nothing is impossible,” is scrawled across the turquoise-colored brick.
