Birstall Awarded for Their Social Impact
The PPG Architectural Coatings site in Birstall, England has received special recognition for its excellent commitment to their local community. The teams at PPG Birstall are widely known for their enthusiasm and positivity in their work but also for their voluntary activities. Thanks to this they’ve now earned themselves the title of Constituency Responsible Business Champion 2017.
Local Member of Parliament (MP), Tracy Brabin nominated the site for the award and highlighted its positive impact on their community. Birstall employees continuously take part in voluntary roles and projects. Projects such as Colorful Communities, STEM Masterclasses in local schools are supporting various charities throughout the year by hosting multiple events and activities.
Tracy Babin and several other Parliament officials presented the award to PPG Representatives at the House of Commons, Westminister, London and said:
When deciding upon the winner of the award, MPs consider several factors and monitor the actions of suppliers on these issues, these include:
-
Ways in which businesses support their local community
-
How they invest in creating a healthy workplace
-
If they offer apprenticeships and training
-
How they promote workplace diversity and inclusion
-
If they offer near equal work opportunities to those with disabilities
