Charities Supported by the Creativity of PPG People

The Charity Partner program, which was launched last year, gives each PPG site across the EMEA region the opportunity to nominate a local charity of its choice.

Employees can then support the charity through donations, fundraising and volunteer activities throughout the year. When the funds raised reach the local equivalent of $500, PPG steps up and matches that donation, up to a maximum of $10,000 per partner! Additionally, in recognition of their services, employees could also receive bonuses for their Charity Partner volunteer efforts. The bonuses range from $125 for donating up to 49 hours to $500 for volunteering for 100 hours or more.

25 Charity Partners have been selected to date which cover 14 EMEA countries and more than 60 locations. Here are some of the activities that have already occurred this year!

Scandinavia

In Søborg in Denmark a promising scheme has been launched where leftover food in the cafeteria can be bought at the end of the day for a much smaller fee. This is a great example of using existing resources to create a revenue stream to help out their chosen Charity Partner, the Red Barnet, who provide children in poverty with a better life in Denmark and in the rest of the world.

Spain

At the Rubí and Barberà sites in Spain, the Charity Partner teams recycled household materials, such as egg boxes, water bottles, Nespresso capsules, glass jars and wood branches to create gifts for a sale. These gifts were sold during Easter celebrations and on Saint Jordi's day, Barcelona's most romantic day of the year where roses are offered as a sign of affection. The raised money was sent to Pallapupas.

United Kingdom

At the Stowmarket site in the UK our colleagues hosted a sparkling show with an Elvis Presley impersonator! Half of the ticket price went to their chosen Charity Partner, AJ's Legacy.

This was one of the many events which was held in Stowamarket, others included a 45 mile 'Cycle challenge', Rat Race 'The Wall' 69 mile Ultra marathon, the PPG 'Summer Ball' and the 'Suffolk on Show' event with smoothie cycles!

South Africa

In celebration of Youth Month 2017, PPG Prominent Paints launched its second #feelgood fundraising campaign in support of their Charity Partner Cotlands. A special Cotlands promo pack was launched and is retailing for R1099.00 incl VAT. It's available exclusively through their Select Store partners nationwide.

For every promo Sheen White PVA 20L paint sold, Prominent Paints will donate R35 to the early childhood development charity, which serves vulnerable children up to the age of six. Upping the ante this year, the company has set a target of R175 000 and which means selling 5,000 units to achieve their goal!

Below is a full list of all of the charity partners we've been working with this year. Come back for another instalment next week as we introduce the thoughtful activities happening across EMEA and the great causes they're working to help.
