Frederic Shows How to Turn Trust into Happy Kids
Frédéric, fier de la confiance témoignée par PPG pour un projet COLORFUL COMMUNITIES
When we gave Frederic Moucamouine, PPG production operator from Saint-Just-en-Chaussee in France, “carte blanche” to propose the location for a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® project, we knew everyone involved would be in for a very pleasant surprise.
The Common Goal Was to Make Kids Happy
This September, Frederic wanted to do something to give back to the school his daughter attends.
“Le Moulin” is a kindergarten in the city of Saint-Just-en-Chaussee, which, in total, ten kids from our colleagues attend. With this motivation, Frederic, his colleagues and officials from the school put their heads together and came up with a series of smart innovations to transform and brighten up the school. The goal of the project was to encourage the children to participate in many and varied activities by developing autonomy, contributing to improving their motor skills and knowledge of science, and teaching them about their individual responsibilities.
A Project Filled with a Convivial Spirit
Although this kind of ambitious project might seem a daunting task for some people, our French colleagues and other parent and teacher volunteers saw it as a beautiful challenge. To achieve their shared vision, they split the project into two types of activity. The first focused on beautifying the playground and lawn. They did this by laying down new grass, installing a palisade and adding playground games such as a wooden house, hopscotch and flowers with blackboards for the children to draw and write on.
Then came the second part focused on landscaping the garden. They added luscious new grass and a vegetable garden consisting of containers of sweet-smelling flowers and aromatic herbs.
Creating the Right Atmosphere
In total, dozens of liters of wood paint and wall paint of many colors transformed the playground into a more vibrant and game-focused experience. The enthusiastic reactions of the kids that currently attend the kindergarten confirmed this. They have seen their world filled with color, fun and new experiences – definitely the best environment for learning.

Quand nous avons donné carte blanche à Frédéric Moucamouine, Cariste production au secteur Mastics chez PPG à Saint-Just-en-Chaussée en France, pour proposer un lieu dans le cadre d’un projet Colorful Communities, nous savions que ce serait une belle surprise pour toutes les personnes impliquées.
L’objectif commun était de faire plaisir aux enfants
En septembre, Frédéric tenait à faire quelque chose pour redonner à la communauté et en particulier l’école de sa fille.
«Le Moulin» est une école maternelle de la ville de Saint-Just-en-Chaussée, dans laquelle dix enfants du personnel PPG sont scolarisés. Avec enthousiasme, Frédéric, ses collègues et la direction de l’école ont uni leurs efforts et ont proposé plusieurs idées ingénieuses pour transformer et égayer l'école. Le projet visait à inciter les enfants à mettre en œuvre des activités nombreuses et variées en développant l’autonomie, à contribuer à améliorer les capacités motrices des enfants, à enrichir l’enseignement scientifique et à favoriser l’éducation à la citoyenneté.
Un projet convivial
Si certains peuvent être intimidés par l’ampleur de ce type de projets, nos collègues français et autres parents et enseignants bénévoles, y ont vu un beau défi. Pour réaliser leur objectif commun, deux types d’activités ont été menés de front. Le premier a porté sur l’embellissement du terrain de jeu et de la pelouse, avec la pose de nouveau gazon, l’installation d’une palissade et de jeux tels que qu’une maison en bois, des marelles et des tableaux en forme de fleur pour que les enfants puissent dessiner et écrire.
Le deuxième a concerné l’aménagement du jardin, avec la mise en place de caissons potager, la plantation de fleurs et d’herbes aromatiques.
Contribuer à une image dynamique
Au final, des dizaines de litres de peinture murales et pour bois, de couleurs variées, ont transformé la cour de récréation en une expérience plus dynamique et axée sur le jeu. Les réactions enthousiastes des enfants qui fréquentent actuellement la maternelle le confirment. Ils ont vu leur monde rempli de couleurs, de plaisir et de nouvelles expériences - certainement le meilleur environnement pour apprendre.
