From a Dull Sports Hall to a Vibrant Community Hub

Great news from Russia, another COLORFUL COMMUNITIES™ project in the Lipetsk region has been completed! The project took place in Gryazi, near our facility, which is comprised of a selection of business units: Automotive OEM Coatings, Protective & Marine Coatings, Packaging Coatings and Industrial Coatings.

Students Can Now Enjoy Sports Again

More than 15 PPG volunteers spent the whole day revitalizing the sports hall of Gymnasium #3. This hall is a vital part of the local school which provides educational programs on all levels from pre-school to secondary school education. The school is at the heart of the city and is enjoyed by nearly 520 youngsters.

 Before the project took place, the hall looked dull, neglected and kids didn’t use it at all. To give it a new lease of life, we installed new flooring, windows and doors. We also donated around 200 liters of JOHNSTONE’S® paint products, using mainly bright blue, orange, white and yellow paint to transform the sports hall into a vibrant, colorful and welcoming place. Our colleagues then helped varnishing the Swedish ladders and marking the floors for football and basketball games.

The hall is now back to its former glory and has become a safe place, which the students really enjoy visiting, some even said that sports is now their new favorite lesson.
