New Paint for Historic Fighter Jet
When the faculty and students at Alessandro Volta Technical School decided to restore a community landmark, the PPG Refinish Sales and Technical Team IC flew to the rescue.
Today, a newly refurbished F-86K fighter jet coated with Selemix paints sits proudly in the school courtyard as a symbol of Alessandra Volta and reminder of what can be achieved when groups work together to improve the community.
As part of the project, the PPG team donated 75 kilos of Selemix paints and worked with project volunteers throughout the summer last year to help guide the application process. The restored plane was unveiled in late September on the school grounds, with teachers, aeronautical students, PPG representatives and journalists in attendance.
Silla Giusti, market director, Refinish, and Marco Farea, plant manager, Ampaspace, joined school officials for the unveiling. In his remarks to the community and the media, Giusti shared his enthusiasm for the project and highlighted the many ways in which PPG supports the community.
Later, Farea introduced the aeronautical students to PPG’s aerospace business. He plans to return to the school to provide additional perspectives on the aerospace production process, its technical components and career opportunities at PPG aerospace facilities.
