Open Days Delight Visitors in France and Poland

Work became a family affair for PPG employees in France and Poland, who welcomed their relatives to special Open Day events.

The French event, held in September, marked the 50th anniversary of the opening of the PPG coatings plant in Saultain. The celebration saw employees in Saultain and at the neighbouring Marly research centre open their doors to family members, subcontractors and suppliers. Visitors were able to tour the plants and get a clearer idea of how we spend our days.

Similar events took place earlier in the year at two of our Polish plants, in Cieszyn and Wroclaw. In July, employees of PPG Deco Polska in Wroclaw entertained family members and retired colleagues at an Open Day and Family Picnic.

More than 500 people attended the event. Attractions included the Water-Based Paints Department, where visitors were able to see a demonstration of one of the production robots. PPG Deco’s Technical Academy, where we train professional painters, and the Research & Development (R&D) centre also took part in the event. Families with children could also take advantage of a bouncy castle, slides, and a climbing wall. Three food trucks ensured that nobody went home hungry.

A  week earlier in Cieszyn, their Open Day allowed employees’ relatives and members of the local community to tour the Industrial Coatings plant. As well as throwing open its doors, Cieszyn welcomed visitors with a range of fun attractions, gifts and refreshments, making a special effort to ensure that our younger visitors enjoyed the day too. In total, around 300 people took part in the event, including Cieszyn’s Deputy Mayor Aleksander Cierniak.
