For another year, PPG EMEA teams created their own unique and touching ways to raise money and promote awareness for cancer research. In October this year, they focused on the World Day Against Breast Cancer. Seven of our incredible sites wanted to share their stories with you!
Providing Transport to Charities in Spain
In Spain, our Automotive Refinish Body shop, CertifiedFirst, collaborated with our company partner, Innovation Group, to come up with new ways to support breast cancer research.
What better way than to utilize their skills? The team gathered at a body shop to paint a car entirely pink – they even stuck the signature ribbon logo on the side of the vehicle! During this process, our colleagues set up a number of charity boxes to fundraise money to fight cancer. The finished car was donated to a local breast cancer investigation organization called GEICAM!
UK Wears it Pink!
Across our Stowmarket and Birmingham teams in the UK, our colleagues rifled through their wardrobes to find their best pink outfits. In support of the Wear it Pink initiative, both sites accepted donations for the dress-down day and even hosted bake sales and raffle ticket competitions to raise money for charities such as Breast Cancer Now! Altogether, the teams raised £283.69!
Having Fun in Pink in AFOS & Dubai
Across the globe, our sites in Moreuil, France and Dubai, UAE joined in on the fun and organized all-pink uniform days! Additionally, our Dubai site invited a surgeon from Zuelkha Hospital to give a lecture on breast cancer awareness. Around Algeria, our fellow PPG colleagues dressed pink while offering screenings to encourage people to take preventative measures to save lives.
Greece Races for the Cure
Our PPG Hellas team in Greece participated in the Race for the Cure Running Event in Athens for the second time! Around 20 of our colleagues took part in the challenge to support breast cancer prevention, awareness and recovery.
The event was full of supportive family, friends, patients and survivors (over 40,000 participants!) who shared their experiences with the disease. With music, balloons and dancing in-between races, our employees truly felt the strong spirit of those who have dealt with cancer and were touched to be a part of the movement. Among our attendees was Ionna Pantzali, whose husband is a PPG colleague.
Ioanna won the second prize in the survivors category race! It’s really important to provide charitability and support to companies and initiatives working to help, cure or care for cancer patients. Our EMEA teams will continue to show their support in the years to come.
