Painting a Smile in France

It's a strong belief at PPG that a colourful, inspiring environment creates a positive state of mind. With that in mind, PPG Architectural Coatings (AC) France teamed up with the “Paint a Smile” which puts its expertise into assisting hospitalised children through painted frescoes.

Their aim is to improve the experience of being admitted to hospital for both children and their families by bringing warmth and fun into the environment. The charity's latest objective was the French Red Cross children’s hospital, Margency, which is situated in the Val d’Oise (Ile-de-France region).

Thanks to the financial support of the PPG AC France, a team of six artists from the association decorated three units of the hospital from the reception area and Exhibition hall on the ground floor to the Cannelle service on the 1st floor.

A cheerful new look was created in the areas as they were expertly decorated with playful, childlike scenes featuring animals and fun characters.

The original frescoes were conceptualised and created in a unique way. The project lasted five and a half weeks; two weeks for the modelling and three and a half weeks of painting.
