Painting in Pretoria - A COLORFUL COMMUNITIES Project in South Africa

In Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa a group of over 60 amazing and thoughtful PPG volunteers came together to revitalize the Kungwini Children's Home, owned by the Kungwini Welfare Organisation.

The Kungwini Welfare Organisation provide a variety of services to the Pretoria East community. The organisation manages 3 community landmarks, the Paul Jungnickel Home for disabled adults, the Kungwini Early Learning Centre and the Kungwini Children's Home, as well as several other community development and social work projects.

Over four days the hard working volunteers refreshed the interiors and exterior of the children's home using over 2.000 liters of paint! The paint range used included Evolve, Prominent Paints Premium range and Prominent Paints Select range. New bed linens, curtains, outdoor furniture and gym equipment were also donated by PPG.

Volunteers focused on redecorating communal areas, transforming them into warm and inviting spaces, using neutral colors to create calming retreats for the home's tenants. The children who stay at the home were also given the special responsibility of selecting their favorite paint colors for their own bedrooms.

The volunteers successfully revamped and restored the ins and outs of the facility, matching its newfound beauty with the great reputation that it holds in the Pretoria East community.

As corporate citizens we can become agents of change, but for meaningful change to occur, collaboration and engagement is required for optimal impact. This is exactly what’s transpired with this project. By working together with multiple partners our impact has been magnified and for us that’s a great result
