As part of ongoing community engagement efforts, our Packaging Coatings and Aerospace facility in Gonfreville, France recently served as a primary sponsor of the community’s popular Science and Technology Forum for school-age children. More than 4,000 people visited the two-week exhibition, including hundreds of students from local schools.
Life on Mars
This year’s forum focused on the Cosmos, with special attention paid to Mars and the equipment scientists use to explore and analyze the planet’s environment.
With support from PPG, students examined Mars through a series of hands-on projects, including experiments, theater performances and animated computer analyses that highlighted interplanetary activities. Check out the program!
Several employees visited the exhibit with their families. Our signage and other materials were also prominently displayed throughout the event.
Recreating the Solar System Through Imagery
We also sponsored the students' art contest called 'My Ideal Planet', and the adults' painting and photograph contest, 'The Sun'. Four of our employees were on the judging panel for the competitions and proudly presented the prizes to the winners.
The annual event is part of the Global Education Program, a six-year initiative developed by the City of Gonfreville l’Orcher to strengthen scientific educational opportunities in the region. This is the 4th consecutive year that PPG has supported the program. Find out more about last year's exhibition which focused on robots!
