PPG is Supporting Young Scientists in Poland
In February, PPG Poland donated a grant to the Silesian University of Technology to further support the ongoing relationship with the school and bolster STEM education in Poland.
A Strategic Partnership
For many years there has been a strong link between the PPG Industrial Coatings facility in Cieszyn, Poland and the local university. There is a lot of cross over between the university students and our employees. Many graduates from the university go on to work at our company, especially those who have carried out internships.
New Lab Equipment for Students
The grant is going towards new equipment for the chemistry laboratories. Some of the new equipment includes four analytical balances, four technical balances, three laboratory dryers, two automatic pipettes, a laboratory distiller and an electrical and manual pH-meter.
Celebrating the Relationship
Patrycja Branny, HR Business Partner, Waldemar Gołębiewski, Plant Director IC Poland and Krzysztof Bojczuk, HR Director Poland, were invited to an event at the university where faculty members were presented with a check. Research associates from the science department then gave demonstrations of their personal projects and scientific innovations.
There were also talks about other collaboration possibilities, such as summer internships, visits to the Cieszyn plant and support programs for students studying for their Master’s or PhD diplomas.
There are a lot of exciting opportunities coming up in the near future as the relationship between PPG and the university continues to grow.
