PPG's Paints Help Renovate Poland after Natural Disasters

PPG’s Architectural Coatings Plant in Poland has cooperated with the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure to help people affected by several hurricanes.

Dekoral Product Donations

In 2016, all paints from the Dekoral Fashion range were replaced with the new brand called Dekoral Clean & Color. After this, a surplus of Dekoral Fashion paints remained. PPG’s Architectural Coating site in Poland offered a discount to the local authorities, who were then able to distribute the paints to the local community.

An astonishing 64,000 buckets of paint, with a market value of approx. $940 000, were given to families who lost their belongings due to natural disasters.

Natural Disasters in Poland

In Northern Poland, there were several natural disasters, mainly hurricanes and floods which occurred during the summer of 2017.

The natural disasters caused wide spread damage, destroying homes and buildings. The Ministry asked if PPG Poland could provide discounted paints for all the people whose houses were damaged. This would allow communities to repaint their homes and help resume normal life.

PPG contacted the local authorities in the regions affected and sold the Dekoral paints to them at a discounted price (6 cents per liter). The local councils then donated 160,000 liters of PPG paint to those in need. The paint was also used to repaint some local public institutions like the Center for Vocational Education in Więcbork.
