Our COLORFUL COMMUNITIES™ initiative has proved itself yet again, this time benefiting two Yorkshire Primary Schools with a colorful redecoration and makeover.
More than 50 volunteers from PPG’s Architectural Coatings plant in Birstall transformed local Birstall Primary Academy and Fieldhead Primary Academy schools as part of its Colorful Communities campaign. PPG provided around 330 litres of its JOHNSTONE’S® Trade paint products to assist with the project.
The volunteers worked tirelessly over the course of two weeks, to provide a colorful and refreshing transformation in time for the new school term. Planters, fences, play equipment, seating and an amphitheater were all painted and redecorated by the superb volunteers.
To commend the wonderful efforts of everyone involved, an official opening ceremony was held. Over 200 students, parents, staff and VIP guests including Mayor of Kirklees, Councillor Christine Iredale and MP and Shadow Minister for Early Years (Batley & Spen), Tracy Brabin were present. A colorful Brazilian percussion band kicked off the celebrations and children were invited to get involved, playing alongside the band and starting the new term with a bang!
Andrew Riley, senior business manager of both schools, commented with excitement that:
The new look includes a revived playground, newly decorated with playground markings. As well as many areas of the outside learning space, the amphitheater has been restored and renewed, shining a brighter light on student engagement and interactive learning.
