The staff at the PPG Architectural Coatings site in Birstall, England are at it again! With a long tradition of community based work, our Birstall colleagues have been working hard again to give back to their West Yorkshire community.

In 2016, the team worked side-by-side with other volunteers from Birstall in Bloom, a local beautification organisation, to raise a new community Welcome sign and plant a colourful garden at its foot.

The sign, created with traditional Yorkshire stone, sits just steps from PPG’s office in Birstall. It was funded, in part, with support from a donation of approx. £2,500 from the PPG community engagement grant making program.  The donation also included PPG paints to brighten the surrounding structure.

We are very grateful for PPG’s contribution to this project, it has helped beautify our village and strengthened the sense of pride in the community. We can’t thank PPG enough!
Joanna Cooney, organiser of Birstall in Bloom

Employees from Birstall and other PPG Architectural Coatings sites in the United Kingdom and Ireland plan to complete several other community engagement projects this year. Examples of upcoming projects include the restoration of other community welcome signs, and renovations to classrooms and school playgrounds.
