In Brno, Czech Republic, 75 colleagues volunteered their time to renovate a local run-down kindergarten. Kindergarten Pšeník was built in the 1960s but has since been left to grow dull. Both the outside and the inside were desperate for a fresh coat of paint – the school for 3-6-year-olds was described as ‘lacking color’.
For the COLORFUL COMMUNITIES™ project, our team of volunteers partnered with teachers and parents, using 300 liters (80 gallons) of donated BALAKRYL®, PRIMALEX® and SIGMA COATINGS® paint products. They had a big task ahead of them.
For indoors, Primalex Essence paint was used. Walls, doors, railings and chairs were painted using orange and yellow to brighten up the space. This product is easily washable with water for when the kids get dirt on the walls!
Flowers, Hopscotches, Sandboxes and More
After seeing the playground area, our employees knew it was necessary to build and paint new playground equipment. This included painting new hopscotches and repainting sandbox frames, benches, and other existing playground features. The kids now have more options for play time and can enjoy themselves to the fullest.
Elsewhere, a striking flower meadow was painted onto the building. The colorful addition replaced a gray exterior and the building is now recognizably a fun kindergarten. In addition, flowers and shrubs were planted by volunteers to form a safe barrier between the playground and the adjacent road.
Like A Brand New School
The impact on the community was astounding. Parents and teachers are happier than ever to attend the kindergarten.
The children were so happy with their newly decorated kindergarten that they organized an opening ceremonial show for its completion – according to their teachers, they can’t stop painting pictures of their “new” school!
