YPO Bring Splash of Happiness to H.O.P.S

In Suffolk, UK 35 volunteers from the YPO (PPG Young Professionals Organisation) came from all over the UK for two days to regenerate the H.O.P.S (Holiday Opportunity Play Scheme) building in true COLORFUL COMMUNITIES™ decorative style.

H.O.P.S uses the building as a space to enable children and young people with disabilities and additional needs to access quality activities, tailored to their needs.

Joined by UK HR Director Paul Dowie, the 35 volunteers worked together to support the project and managed the redecoration of 12 rooms! Each room had a dedicated team to ensure that the standard of painting and decoration were finished to PPG's excellent standards.

Both the paint and equipment were provided by PPG and Johnstone's Paint. The Architectural Coatings Colour Advisory Department were also involved in designing the colour schemes for the rooms. Together, with the team at H.O.P.S they decided on a final colour scheme that would suit the various children and young people who rely on H.O.P.S as their community and social space.

Volunteers also decorated and donated their time to the outside spaces on site, installing 2 mud kitchens, artificial turf and a bamboo screen to cover some of the garden fencing.

After the first day of hard work all the YPO volunteers made their way to the county town of Ipswich to enjoy their time networking, relaxing and taking part in various activities. Volunteers had time to chat to other YPO members from other PPG business units  in an informal setting to get to know one another and make new friends with both their senior members and other young professionals.

On the final day when all 12 rooms were complete all the volunteers helped in cleaning up too! Making sure that the building was clean and tidy, ready for the children and young people to move back in.

H.O.P.S offer their greatest thanks to PPG and all the volunteers for being involved in the project, commenting that the project wouldn't have been possible without the hard work made by the team and their commitment to the cause.
