A MoonVan Mission to Revolutionize the Refinish Industry

All this to share the news of our industry-revolutionizing MOONWALK™ paint-mixing system with customers in Spain and Portugal — by driving MoonVan!
A Giant Leap in Paint-Mixing Technology
Representing a “giant leap” for the collision repair industry, our award-winning MoonWalk is a splash-free, self-contained system that replaces manual mixing processes. This brings a new level of speed, efficiency, safety, precision, quality and color consistency to the body shop mixing process.
In Spain, MoonWalk, had its grand unveiling in June 2019. Pedro’s team invited guests to watch demonstrations by our expert technicians in a virtual reality mixing room unlike any they had seen before.
But the number of demonstrations the Automotive Refinish team in Iberia were able to perform at PPG Training Center was limited. They knew they needed to reach more customers. When the idea of the travelling MoonVan was born in the Netherlands, the Spanish team jumped at the chance.
Proud PPG Paint Project Pioneers
MoonVan is a project that takes MoonWalk on the road. It is a fully functional mobile system that can be driven to customer sites for demonstrations. The start of the pandemic saw the MoonVan’s mission expand and accelerate, and the idea quickly stretched to other countries, including Spain.
If our customers can’t visit our PPG Business Training Centers, then we go to them… in a COVID-safe way.

As the color and IT collision services manager for the Iberian region, Pedro is a tech enthusiast and very motivated to digitalize the body shop paint area. He is the MoonVan project coordinator in Spain, responsible for ensuring all eventualities are considered so that customer visits are flawless.
Ferran is one of our technicians who performs the demonstrations to customers, showing how MoonWalk works and why it would make a valuable investment for their company.
We are pioneers, launching the first automatic mixing machine in the Spanish refinish market. I’m proud to be part of this project and to team up with my colleagues to make it happen.

Creating a Buzz in the Refinish Industry
Most MoonVan demonstrations that the team performs are 30 minutes long, but that’s plenty of time to sweep customers off their feet.
Indeed, just as MoonWalk is the center of the PPG refinish coatings digital ecosystem, wherever the MoonVan travels, it becomes the center of attention. The guys love seeing the ‘wow’ the MoonVan causes each time they arrive at a customer site.
When painters see MoonWalk and its paint finish and color accuracy in action, they're convinced.

But Pedro and Ferran soon realized that 30 minutes was not sufficient to “demonstrate the full potential of PPG” to our customers – explaining the whole process, not just selling the product. They decided to take it a step further.
Across Spain, Ferran actually started visiting body shops for multiple days to show off the power of the system, as well as our products and processes, in real-life scenarios.
We park the van, open the doors, and let the customers step onto the moon.

Gazing Onwards and Upwards
Pedro and Ferran and the rest of the MoonVan team look forward to ‘Moonwalking’ further – with visits around Spain and Portugal booked for a year, starting in April!
The team is also planning to have more mobile units on the road by summer to tour Spain and Portugal, France, Italy, Scandinavia, Greece and Germany.
As the new standard for paint-mixing efficiency in the automotive refinish industry, the MoonVan is boosting MoonWalk’s popularity rapidly. It now operates in more than 600 body shops across the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. It seems there is nowhere the MoonVans won’t go to share our state-of-the-art technology.

Un paso gigante en la tecnología para la mezcla de pintura
Nuestra galardonada MoonWalk, que representa un “paso gigante” para la industria de reparación de colisiones, es un sistema autónomo y sin salpicaduras que reemplaza los procesos de mezcla manual. Esto aporta un nuevo nivel de velocidad, eficiencia, seguridad, precisión, calidad y consistencia de color al proceso de mezcla del taller de carrocería.
En España, la MoonWalk tuvo su gran inauguración en junio 2019. El equipo de Pedro a invitado a clientes a asistir a demostraciones impartidas por nuestros técnicos expertos en una sala de mezcla de realidad virtual, diferente de todo lo que habían visto antes.
Sin embargo, el número de demostraciones que el equipo de Automotive Refinish en Iberia podía realizar en el centro de formación de PPG era limitado. Sabían que necesitaban llegar a más clientes. Cuando la idea de la MoonVan itinerante surgió en los Países Bajos, el equipo de España aprovechó la oportunidad.
Orgullosos de ser pioneros del proyecto de pintura PPG
La MoonVan forma parte del proyecto que pretende llevar el sistema MoonWalk a la carretera. Se trata de un sistema móvil totalmente funcional que permite realizar demostraciones en las instalaciones de los clientes. Con el inicio de la pandemia, la misión de la MoonVan se amplió y aceleró, y la idea se extendió rápidamente a otros países, incluida España.

Siendo el color & IT collision services manager para la región de Iberia, Pedro es un entusiasta de la tecnología y está muy motivado con la digitalización del área de pintura del taller de carrocería. Es el coordinador del proyecto MoonVan en España, responsable de asegurar que se consideran todas las eventualidades para que las visitas a los clientes se realicen sin ningún fallo.
Ferran es uno de los técnicos que realiza las demostraciones en los clientes, explicando cómo funciona el sistema MoonWalk y por qué es una inversión valiosa para su negocio.
Somos pioneros en el lanzamiento de la primera mezcladora automática en el mercado español de repintado. Estoy orgulloso de formar parte de este proyecto y trabajar en conjunto con mis compañeros para hacer que suceda.

Creando disrupción en la industria del repintado automóvil
La mayoría de las demostraciones tardan 30 minutos, pero el tiempo es suficiente para sorprender a los clientes.
De hecho, al igual que MoonWalk es el centro del ecosistema digital de recubrimientos de repintado de PPG, dondequiera que la MoonVan viaje, se convierte en el centro de atención. A los chicos les encanta ver el "wow" que causa la MoonVan cada vez que llegan a las instalaciones de un cliente.
Cuando los pintores ven el MoonWalk y su acabado de pintura y precisión de color en acción, quedan convencidos.

Pero Pedro y Ferran pronto se dieron cuenta de que 30 minutos no eran suficientes para “demostrar todo el potencial de PPG” a nuestros clientes – era importante explicar todo el proceso, no solo vender el producto. Entonces, decidieron ir más allá.
En toda España, Ferran empezó a visitar los talleres de carrocería durante varios días para mostrar el potencial del sistema en escenarios reales, así como de nuestros productos y procesos.
Aparcamos la furgoneta, abrimos las puertas y dejamos que los clientes suban a la luna.

Mirando hacia adelante y hacia arriba
Pedro, Ferran y el resto del equipo de MoonVan esperan seguir adelante con el "Moonwalking", realizando visitas a los talleres en España y Portugal durante un año, ¡a partir de abril!
Mientras tanto, el equipo está planteando tener más unidades móviles en la carretera durante el verano para hacer un recorrido a España y Portugal, Francia, Italia, Escandinavia, Grecia y Alemania.
Siendo el nuevo estándar para la eficiencia de mezcla de pintura en la industria del repintado automóvil, la MoonVan está impulsando rápidamente la popularidad del sistema MoonWalk. Actualmente ya opera en más de 600 talleres de carrocería en la región de Europa, Oriente Medio y África (EMEA). No hay ningún lugar al que las MoonVans no vayan para compartir nuestra tecnología de vanguardia.
