MOONWALK – A Revolution in Automotive Refinish

More than 500 invited guests from 30-plus countries gathered in Madrid, Spain, at the end of June to participate in an historic MOONWALK™ event that marked a “giant leap” for the collision repair industry.

MoonWalk is a revolutionary new PPG automated paint mixing system that will transform body shop mixing rooms into cleaner, safer and much more efficient operations.

The global unveiling was led by Michael McGarry, PPG chairman and chief executive officer; Jérôme Zamblera, PPG vice president for Refinish in EMEA; and Alban d’Epenoux, PPG business director for Refinish in Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, Turkey and Africa and MoonWalk project leader.

The event featured live demonstrations by our expert technicians and a virtual reality area that immersed guests in a mixing room unlike any they had seen before.

MoonWalk replaces manual mixing processes with a splash-free, self-contained system that eliminates spills and achieves extreme mixing accuracy. The system’s computer uses a smart, intuitive interface that connects to the integrated mixing system and color management software.

In addition to increasing productivity, the automated system limits the potential for human error, improves quality and consistency. The state-of-the-art system also will help our customers to attract and retain the most talented people in their business.
