Coatings Designed for the Digital Age
Are you tired of constantly having marks on your phone? Well, we’re preventing electronic devices from staining with our VELVECRON® SR Coatings. Introduced in 2016, PPG Velvecron SR coating is the first of its kind, revolutionizing white plastic and mixed metal substrates products. It gives your electronic devices a luxurious velvety feel while protecting them at the same time.
Not so White Anymore?
In the digital age, there has been a growing demand for premium white electronic devices, but the problem is that these products are unable to provide long-term stain resistance to keep up with customer demands.
The Velvecron SR coating was developed using our latest proprietary resin and pigment technologies. It has a double component urethane topcoat to provide lasting stain resistance, helping to keep products looking white! It is used on devices like smartphones, tablets and keyboards, to avoid staining caused by foods, oils or other liquids.
The coating has been tested by renowned global electronics producers and has passed all the checks with flying colors. It has exceeded all the industry benchmarks for strength and stain resistance.
Velvecron SR coating is a major achievement because it is the first coating to meet this long-standing industry demand. This product has the potential to shift the entire worldview about what is possible with electronics design and durability.

How it Works
Velvecron SR coatings are sprayed on all white basecoats at a thicknesses of 20−25 microns, which is roughly half the film-build needed with soft-touch coatings. This helps manufacturers reduce material costs and improve throughout. It is also more elastic than the hard ultraviolet-cure coating, meaning coated devices can withstand harsh drop tests.
We are excited for what the future holds for this coating, as it has the potential for wide-ranging application in markets such as athletic equipment, automotive parts, game consoles and much more.
