Leyland Trade Poised to Become Major European DIY Brand

Congratulations are in order for the PPG Kingfisher team as they have clinched an extraordinary deal with Kingfisher PLC!

Kingfisher PLC, the largest home improvement retailer in Europe and the third largest in the world behind The Home Depot and Lowe’s, has selected Leyland Trade to be its pan-European trade brand.

Starting in April, Leyland will significantly increase its footprint beyond the United Kingdom and Ireland to become a true European brand.

As a primary Kingfisher supplier,  Leyland will soon expand into Poland, Russia, Spain, Portugal and France through Kingfisher’s Castorama and Brico Depot stores.  This will generate significant topline growth for PPG and Kingfisher. Kingfisher’s Castorama stores in Poland will be the first to offer Leyland products.

Our success is a great example of a truly multinational approach operating across multiple geographies and functions. The teamwork and cooperation shown by everyone involved is a great example of how we, too, can win by working collaboratively as ONE PPG.

The roll-out to the other European countries is expected to be complete by the end of the year. In 2016, the company radically reorganised its structure to streamline its operations and move forward as 'ONE Kingfisher'.

As part of this strategy, it sought to dramatically reduce its number of white paint suppliers by 90 percent. A stellar marketing pitch by PPG’s Dekoral team in Poland effectively demonstrated the essence, heritage, durability and quality of the Leyland brand to Kingfisher’s Castorama representatives. As a result, the Polish team was chosen as the first team to promote Leyland in the expanded European marketplace.

Putting trade product into DIY stores is a massive win for PPG and Kingfisher teams across Europe, we look forward to similar successes in Castorama Poland and other Kingfisher operating companies
