Pedro’s Football Coaching is a Scoring Success

Meet Pedro Perez, our current Regional Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) director for EMEA and a passionate football coach at the same time.

Pedro joined the Stowmarket plant, UK in 1997 as Project Engineering Assistant. He started his career in PPG two years later, when he joined PPG through acquisition. He was largely working in refinish but has had numerous different operational roles before becoming the Regional EHS director for EMEA in March 2017.

Pedro has a talent for leadership, which he uses not only in his job, but also in his free time. He gives up a lot of time to coach upcoming young football players in the local community.

Safety Is a Number One Priority

His job as EMEA EHS Director, is very important to ensure people improve their own personal safety at work. Pedro spends his days at work promoting an EHS culture within PPG’s working environment and helping people to understand risks associated with their jobs.

He enjoys engaging with colleagues and believes that PPG truly cares about the safety of every employee.

Pedro and His Passion for Football

Pedro’s caring nature has sparked his interest into developing initiatives within local community, for example, he has a huge passion for children’s football coaching. He has been a football coach for the past four years, working with his local team Woodbridge FC. He has organized numerous football events, team coaching and training sessions. Pedro has seen the children develop into confident and skillful young players.

Coaching young people is not only rewarding but also challenging. You have to find different ways to keep kids attracted to the game whilst they learn and develop. Nothing is more satisfying than when the young players ask you for advice, and you are able to fulfill their expectations.

Pedro truly loves coaching the local community and continues to be a role model, inspiring children to play football. He also feels that his experiences as a coach have helped him to become a better father.

I enjoy watching my two sons play football during weekends. They have both benefited from the grassroots development programs and also my own coaching.

Getting Involved in a Community Project

Pedro is also enthusiastic about the Colorful Communities Project. In the past as Site Manager for Stowmarket, he has championed many projects within the community. Last year, he attended a project in Rolle, Switzerland. He and other volunteers including members from the European Leadership Team helped restore park buildings and playgrounds.
