Gergo and Ferenc Use Safety Training to Save Life

Nearly every morning during the work week, Gergő Mészáros and Ferenc Rigó ride the same 5:00 a.m. bus to work at our Architectural Coatings (AC) site in Budapest, Hungary. It's usually a quiet commute for Gergő, a paint filler, and Ferenc, a paint mixer. But their routine recently took an unexpected and urgent twist when they encountered a man in need of immediate medical help.
The two men were on the bus when they noticed a man lying on the pavement by his bicycle. After several commuters walked by him, the duo hurried off the bus to see if they could help. They found the man unresponsive, no longer breathing and without a heartbeat. Equipped with first aid skills they have learned throughout the years, Gergő and Ferenc resuscitated him and provided basic care until an emergency crew arrived to transport him to the hospital.
The emergency team credited the men with saving the stranger's life in that moment. They, in turn, credit regular safety training at the AC site with helping them maintain their skills so that they could quickly stabilize the man.

As part of its safety program, the Budapest EHS team trains employees on the proper use of medicines and first aid equipment, wound care, resuscitation and other medical techniques. The skills can be used whenever a need arises – at the plant, at home or in the community.
Our safety and first aid trainings prepare us for a variety of situations, even though we hope we never have to call on them. But after using them in a real-life situation, it reminds us how important they really are.

Mészáros Gergő és Rigó Ferenc a hétköznapok során szinte minden reggel ugyanazzal a hajnali 5:00-ás busszal utaznak munkába az Architectural Coatings (AC) budapesti telephelyére. Általában csendes ingázás ez Gergő kiszerelőnek és Ferenc bekeverőnek. Ám a rutinjuk nemrégiben váratlan és sürgető fordulatot vett, amikor találkoztak egy férfival, aki azonnali orvosi segítségre szorult.
A két férfi a buszon utazott, amikor észrevették, hogy kerékpárja mellett egy férfi fekszik a járdán. Miután több ingázó elsétált mellette, a duó lesietett a buszról, hátha tudnak segíteni. Megállapították, hogy a férfi nem reagált, már nem lélegzett, és nem ver a szíve. Az évek során elsajátított elsősegélynyújtási készségekkel felvértezve Gergő és Ferenc újraélesztették és biztosították az alapellátást, amíg a mentők megérkeztek, hogy kórházba szállítsák.
Az idegen életének megmentését a férfiaknak tulajdonította a mentős csapat. Gergő és Feri azonban a cég által biztosított általános biztonsági oktatásnak tulajdonította a sikert, amely naprakészen tartva tudásukat segítette őket, hogy mihamarabb stabilizálják az eszméletlen férfi állapotát.
