Time to Challenge the Status Quo

We have had some truly remarkable Rainmakers this year. They are individuals that are the ambassadors of our values and an excellent example to us all. Meet Katarzyna Glinska, PPG category manager marketing services EMEA, who, at less than two years at PPG, is already making quite a name for herself.

Dedicated Follower of Passion

Katarzyna manages the marketing spend in Northern Europe looking for synergy effects at an EMEA level. She attributes her award not to her own work but to the excellent partnership she enjoys with the Marketing AC North department. Her passion for what she does stems from the creative and open-minded people she meets in her day-to-day work.

Although she has only been with PPG since January 2018, she is already immersing herself into her role and looking for opportunities to challenge the status quo. Her ultimate goal is the optimization of business models and bringing a more cost-effective approach to the company.

Communication Is Key

I am asking myself and my stakeholders 'how can we approach it differently to achieve better results'?
The challenge of being a member of an internationally dispersed team can lead to a stakeholder disconnect. For Katarzyna, this is no problem. She knows that for building healthy relationships with partners, careful planning and good communication are key. No matter how complex an issue may be, taking a step-by-step approach means solving problems together before they occur.

Focus and Prioritize

Focus on one thing at a time because you can have it all, but not all at once.
Hindsight is a powerful thing, and one of the greatest lessons Katarzyna has learned in her career is to make a to-do list and go through it one by one. Having such a focus on tasks and the order in which they should be done is crucial to being successful.

And if she ever needs inspiration in her current job, then she finds it in her managers. They always encourage her to go that extra mile and are excellent at getting the very best out of her. She also relies on the open dialog she has with her business partners where she learns how to predict and follow market changes.

The Lessons Life Teaches Us

Observing people who are close to the end of their lives gives me a perspective to make wiser decisions.
When not at work, Katarzyna dedicates a lot of her time to visiting people suffering from long-term illnesses in a nursing home. For the last ten years, she has been organizing events for various groups of people with disabilities. These range from outdoor meetings, reading events to Christmas celebrations. It has taught her that in life, you should never take anything for granted. A lesson we can all live by.
